Handmade Italian leather bags, made in Florence

Every bag in this collection is cut and stitched in Florence from genuine Italian leather — mostly full-grain cowhide and calfskin from Tuscan tanneries, with some suede and washed leather styles. Full-grain keeps the natural surface of the hide, so it softens with use and builds a patina instead of cracking or peeling the way corrected and bonded leather does. The leather type is stated on every product page.

Buying direct from the workshop

There is no importer, no distributor and no boutique markup between the workshop bench and your door. That is the whole reason a structured Florentine satchel can sit under $150 here and $400 in a department store. Duties and taxes are handled up front, so there is nothing to pay when your bag arrives.

Which bag suits how you carry

Crossbody and small shoulder bags are the everyday workhorses — hands free, close to the body, and sized for a phone, a slim wallet and keys. Totes and larger shoulder bags take a laptop or a day's shopping. If you travel, look for an adjustable strap and a zip or clasp closure rather than an open top, so the bag can be worn high and closed in a crowd. Backpacks and briefcases have their own collections.

Sizes are listed on every page

Exact width, height, depth and strap length are published in both centimetres and inches on every product page, because "small" and "large" mean different things to different people. Check the dimensions against a bag you already own before you order.

What "vera pelle" does and does not mean

Vera pelle simply means "real leather". It is not a quality mark and it is not a guarantee of origin — plenty of $300 bags are corrected split leather stamped vera pelle, and plenty of bags under $150 are full-grain cowhide from a Tuscan tannery. Read the leather grade and the country of manufacture, not the price tag.
